The 61-story sleek glass Back Bay tower housing the Four Seasons Hotel and Private Residences One Dalton Street is not only transforming the Boston skyline, the hotel and condominium residences are also being elevated to the highest standard of luxury and security. Upon its completion in late 2018, at 742 feet, One Dalton Street will be the tallest residential building in New England.

With the Private Residences at One Dalton managed by Four Seasons, owners and their guests will enjoy access to amenities and a service-rich lifestyle. According to Four Seasons at One Dalton Street developer Richard Friedman, it will also be the most secure building.

“More secure than any building that’s ever been built in Boston,” he said.

Friedman, president and CEO, Carpenter & Company, puts former Head of the U.S. Secret Service Mark Sullivan, now principal and cofounder of Global Security & Innovative Strategies, in charge of overseeing the security plan for One Dalton, which includes security assessments, design, implementation, and advisory services. After concluding his federal service, Sullivan cofounded GSIS, a company that leverages its extensive private and public sector, homeland and public security, and international expertise to provide comprehensive solutions for its clients.

“We plan to offer luxury in all forms at One Dalton, everything from 24-hour room service and a stellar spa to a seamless and safe security plan. As always, we are looking ahead for the ideas and technology that will continue to set our building apart and make living at One Dalton a premier experience on every level,” Friedman said.

Sullivan is focusing first on improving the common back-of-house security operations that are typically used in hotels and residential buildings as well as surveillance of common areas and public spaces. His recommendation for One Dalton incorporates cutting-edge technology from Evolv Technology and Milestone Systems.

Evolv Technology is a Boston, MA-based manufacturer of high tech scanners. According to the founders of Evolv Technology, Mike Ellenbogen and Anil Chitkara, their body scanners can not only detect knives and guns, but also explosives and suicide vests. Evolv uses advanced sensing and deep learning to ensure a threat-free risk-based screening approach.

The Milestone Systems solution features high performance network video recorders and leading video monitoring software for comprehensive management and distribution of digital video data. Open architecture enables ongoing integrations with new technology innovations as they come to market.

“One Dalton is one of a few elite buildings worldwide to embrace change and incorporate technology that will provide the best life for its hotel guests and residents. Public venues have been working to improve security for some time; this is a remarkable and intelligent investment for a residential development,” Sullivan said.

“This is part of a long view on security for One Dalton,” said Friedman. “As technology improves and we learn more about exactly what our residents and hotel guests want and need, we will introduce new elements that ensure all who spend time at One Dalton feel relaxed, safe, and cared for.”
